The American network NBC, citing two American officials and other former officials, reported that officials in the Biden administration discussed the possibilities of conducting negotiations to reach a unilateral agreement with Hamas, to secure the release of five US prisoners, who are being held in Gaza, if ceasefire negotiations collapsed.
According to the report, such negotiations will not take place with Israeli participation and will be managed through Qatari mediation, as the current negotiations were managed. The five kidnapped US citizens are Aidan Alexander, Shiga Dekel-Han, Hersh Goldberg-Boulin, Omer Natura, and Keith Siegel.
